Summary
- Website: no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts or fonts. Our hosting server keeps standard access logs.
- App: your settings, download list and logs are stored on your own computer. The app contacts the sites you download from and the official sources of its video components. It contains no analytics or advertising.
- Extension: it sends information only to the BLBOL app on the same computer, through your browser's native messaging. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party.
blbol.net, the BLBOL app and the BLBOL browser extension are published by BLBOL Software, who is responsible for the data described in this policy. Contact: the support page.
1. The blbol.net website
No cookies and no trackers
The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising, social media widgets or other tracking technologies. Fonts, images and scripts are served from blbol.net itself, so visiting a page does not contact any other company.
Your theme preference
If you switch between the light and dark theme, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage on your own device so the next page uses it. It is never sent to us, and you can clear it by clearing the site data in your browser.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our hosting server records standard access logs: your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, the referring page and your browser's user agent. We use these logs only to keep the site secure and running, for example to investigate abuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Logs are kept only as long as that purpose requires and are then deleted; a log needed to investigate a specific security incident may be kept until that investigation ends. We do not use them to build profiles.
Speed test
The speed test runs only when you press Start. It shows the public IP address our server sees and exchanges generated test data (up to about 10 MB) with our server to measure speed. No personal files are uploaded, and the test does not ask for your location. Requests appear in the server logs described above. The test runs only at your request; the legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the tool you started (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Downloads
When you download the installer or the extension, the request is recorded in the server logs like any other page view.
2. The BLBOL Download Manager app
Data stored on your computer
BLBOL stores its settings, your download list, the progress of unfinished downloads and log files in your Windows profile (%LOCALAPPDATA%\BLBOL). This data stays on your computer. Logs never contain cookies or licence keys and do not record full addresses with access tokens at the normal log level. Uninstalling BLBOL removes the app; files you downloaded stay where you saved them.
Connections the app makes
- The sites you download from. To download a file or a video, BLBOL connects to the server that hosts it, just as your browser would.
- Video components. BLBOL uses open-source tools for video downloads: yt-dlp, the FFmpeg builds published by BtbN and, if you add it in the Components settings, Deno. It downloads them from their GitHub release pages the first time you need them and checks for updates from time to time. These requests reveal your IP address to GitHub, like any download from that site.
The app contains no analytics, advertising or usage tracking, and it does not send your download history to us.
Licence
The 30-day trial and licence checks run locally. Trial and licence state is stored in your Windows profile and per-user Windows registry. The current version does not contact an activation server. Purchases are not available at launch.
Sign-in cookies for login-only videos
When a video needs you to be signed in, BLBOL can ask the extension for that site's cookies. They are written to a temporary file on your computer, used only for that download and deleted afterwards. They are never sent to us.
3. The BLBOL browser extension
This section is also the privacy policy for the BLBOL extension in the Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Edge Add-ons.
Single purpose
The extension sends downloads, links and media detected in your browser to the BLBOL Download Manager app installed on the same computer.
Information the extension handles
- the address, file name, size and type of downloads you start, and the page and referrer they come from;
- the addresses of video and audio streams detected on the page you are viewing, and the page's address and title;
- links on a page, when you choose to send them to BLBOL;
- cookies for a specific site, only when the BLBOL app asks for them to download content from that site that requires you to be signed in;
- your extension settings, stored in your browser's extension storage.
Where this information goes
Only to the BLBOL app on the same computer, through the browser's native messaging channel. The extension does not send any information over the internet, does not contact our servers, contains no analytics or remote code and does not show advertising.
What we never do
We do not sell or transfer this information to third parties, use it for advertising or to build profiles, use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes, or use it for any purpose other than the single purpose above. The use of information received through browser extension APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Permissions
Each permission the extension asks for is explained on the extension page.
4. Support emails
If you write to us for help, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, such as log files, links or screenshots. We use them only to answer you and to fix the problem you report. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your request (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) or, for a licence you bought, the performance of that contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). We keep support emails as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up, then delete them. Please never send us passwords.
5. Children
BLBOL is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Your choices and rights
Because we do not collect personal data through the app or the extension, there is normally nothing for us to access, correct or delete. You can delete the app's data by uninstalling BLBOL and removing %LOCALAPPDATA%\BLBOL, and the extension's data by removing the extension. For personal data we do hold, such as support emails, you can ask us for access, correction or deletion, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. If you are in the EU, the EEA or the UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection supervisory authority. For questions about server logs or this policy, contact us: the support page.
7. Changes to this policy
If we change how BLBOL handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. Significant changes affecting the app or the extension will also be mentioned in the changelog.
